Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS), sometimes called Lou Gehrig's disease, is a rapidly progressive, invariably fatal neurological disease that attacks the nerve cells(neurons) responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. The disease belongs to a group of disorders known as motor neuron diseases, which are characterized by the gradual degeneration and death of motor neurons. 3, record 2, English, - amyotrophic%20lateral%20sclerosis
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Because Charcot made the first clinical description in the 1860s, the disease is named for him in Europe. In the United States [and Canada], the disease often is called Lou Gehrig disease after the baseball legend who died from ALS in 1941. 2, record 2, English, - amyotrophic%20lateral%20sclerosis

3, record 2, Spanish, - esclerosis%20lateral%20amiotr%C3%B3fica
