Un capteur de vision 3D a également été mis au point par Itmi, PME grenobloise transfuge d'une équipe de l'Imag. Il utilise un laser donnant un faisceau lumineux plan qui coupe les objets de la scène à analyser en produisant un tracé lumineux. Une caméra munie d'un filtre optique passe-bande, centré sur la longueur d'onde du laser, analyse ce trait qu'il transforme en une image digitalisée.
