CIRCULATION THEOREM BJERKNES [1 record]

English

Subject field(s)
  • Meteorology
DEF

In relative motion with respect to the Earth, the rate of change of the circulation (dC/dt) along a closed curve consisting always of the same fluid particles is equal to the number of isobaric-isosteric solenoids (N) enclosed by the curve, minus the product of twice the angular velocity of the Earth ([omega]) and the rate of variation of the area (d[sigma]/dt) defined by the projection of the curve on the equatorial plane: dC/dt = N - 2[omega]d[sigma]/dt.

DEF
