The Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner took on the responsibilities of the former Ethics Commissioner related to the administration of the Conflict of Interest and Post-Employment Code for Public Office Holders (incorporated in the new Conflict of Interest Act) and the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons. With respect to public office holders, the Commissioner has been granted an expanded mandate under the Conflict of Interest Act on several areas, including the conduct of examinations, the power to impose administrative monetary penalties, and an increase in the number of public office holders who are subject to the federal conflict of interest regime. As well, undertaking educational activities for Members of the House of Commons and the general public regarding the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons and the role of the Commissioner are also part of her responsibilities.  1, record 1, English, - Conflict%20of%20Interest%20and%20Ethics%20Commissioner

La commissaire aux conflits d'intérêts et à l'éthique a assumé les fonctions et les responsabilités de l'ancien commissaire à l'éthique qui était chargé d'administrer le Code régissant la conduite des titulaires de charge publique en ce qui concerne les conflits d'intérêts et l'après-mandat (désormais inclus dans la nouvelle Loi sur les conflits d'intérêts) et du Code régissant les conflits d'intérêts des députés. Pour ce qui est des titulaires de charge publique, le mandat accordé par la Loi sur les conflits d'intérêts au nouveau commissaire a été élargi, notamment quant à son pouvoir d'entreprendre une étude ou d'imposer des pénalités, et au nombre de titulaires de charge publique assujettis au régime fédéral de gestion des conflits d'intérêts.
