English

Subject field(s)
  • Opening and Closing Devices (Packaging)
DEF

A metal closure, lined with compo cork or plastic with or without a facing, of the type used for narrow-necked carbonated beverage bottles, for cone-top beer cans and similar containers. The metal cap is crimped on its edges over a crown finish to grip and seal the contents of pressure goods.

OBS

Although the term "crown cork" is given as a synonym for "crown cap" in the Webster's Third New International Dictionary, it should rather be reserved to crown closures incorporating a cork liner.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Modes d'ouverture et de fermeture (Emball.)
DEF
