An important feature of our system is that the Cabinet is reponsible to Parliament. If it loses a major vote in the House, the Cabinet resigns (and the Governor General will ask the Leader of the Opposition to form a new Cabinet), or it asks the Governor General to dissolve Parliament and call an election .
