In May 2003 the CHPCA (Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association) introduced a new annual fundraising and awareness event. The first national Hike for Hospice Palliative Care was held on Sunday, May 4th, 2003. The event was a huge success with more than 75 communities across Canada participating in the event. The event was picked up by various media outlets across Canada and more than $300,000 was raised to support local hospice palliative care programs and services with no monies being transferred to the CHPCA.

En mai 2003, l'ACSP (Association canadienne de soins palliatifs) a introduit un nouvel événement annuel de collecte de fonds et de sensibilisation. La première Marche nationale pour les soins palliatifs a eu lieu le dimanche 4 mai 2001. Cet événement a remporté un succès éclatant, plus de 75 communautés du Canada participant à cet événement. L'événement a été mentionné par différents médias du Canada et plus de 300 000 $ ont été collectés pour les programmes et services locaux de soins palliatifs, aucun argent n'étant transféré à l'ACSP.
