A "legal for life" letter is a letter provided by the auditor to legal counsel that provides assurance from the auditor with respect to certain specific financial amounts or ratios. This assurance assists legal counsel in rendering their opinion in the prospectus that the securities being offered are investments which a company registered under the Canadian and British Insurance Companies Act (Canada), and a number of other federal and provincial acts, may invest its funds.
