The Provincial Transportation and Communication Board was established in 1945. Name changed in 1949 from Provincial Transportation and Communications Board to Transportation Board and on February 15, 1973 to Transport Commission. Name changed to Commission des transports du Québec when the Charter of the French Language (Bill 101) was adopted, stipulating that only the French names of departments, services, agencies of the Government of Quebec were official.
