A contact time after chlorination of 20 minutes is desirable to insure safe water. Usually the pressure tank will provide necessary retention time. The size of tank necessary is 20 times the GPM pump capacity, plus 25%. If pressure tank is not large enough, a separate retention tank is needed.

Pour assurer l'épuration de l'eau, il est bon de prévoir une période de contact de 20 minutes après l'injection du chlore. En général, le réservoir hydropneumatique permet une période de contact suffisante. La capacité du réservoir doit être égale à 20 fois le débit (gal/min) de la pompe, plus 25 pour cent. Si le réservoir n'a pas la capacité voulue, il faut prévoir un bac de rétention distinct.
