Calandrage Shreiner : (coton et mélanges) donne un aspect brillant plus discret au tissus de coton, une apparence soyeuse ou mercerisée; la calandre Shreiner est constituée d'un rouleau d'acier poli et un rouleau de bronze gravé en creux de rainures obliques peu profondes et très serrées, ce rouleau est chauffé et pressé sur une contre-partie en papier.

Des procédés tels que le calandrage et le gaufrage ne sont pas des apprêts permanents à moins de faire subir au tissu un apprêt chimique tel que l'application d'une résine synthétique.
