L'EEG de sommeil de l'enfant normal. Avant de décrire les activités qui le caractérisent, il convient de préciser que le sommeil est une condition indispensable de l'enregistrement de l'EEG chez l'enfant de moins de 3 ans. Avant cet âge, en effet, les tracés de veille sont très artéfactés - souvent impossibles à interpréter - et mettent mal en évidence d'éventuelles activités pathologiques, qui, au contraire, sont renforcées par le sommeil, seule méthode susceptible d'"activer" l'EEG à cet âge.

EEG est l'abréviation de "électro-encéphalogramme".
