Somatostatin (also known as somatotropin release-inhibiting factor [SRIF]) is a tetradecapeptide; a 28-amino acid precursor [which] also has GH [growth hormone] inhibitory properties. Somatostatin blocks the rise in GH that occurs with all stimuli in a dose-dependent manner.
