Le vote de blâme constitue simplement une sanction morale, un avertissement qui n'oblige pas le gouvernement à démissionner contrairement au vote de censure qui l'exige.

OBS

Le terme «vote de censure» a été relevé dans plusieurs sources pour désigner la même notion. Toutefois, «vote de censure» n'est pas considéré comme un synonyme de «vote de blâme».
