Une altisurface est un terrain en montagne, hors aérodrome, désigné pour l'atterrissage et le décollage. Une altisurface n'est donc pas un aérodrome. Ce n'est pas non plus un terrain privé. Toutefois, certains propriétaires de terrain privé un peu délicat demandent que les pilotes visiteurs aient une qualification montagne.
