"Through leadership and service, promote the sport of badminton." The purpose of Badminton Alberta is to provide the necessary leadership to ensure the good order of the development of the sport in this province. The Alberta Badminton Association is registered as a non-profit society and has been incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta since August 28, 1928. Effective September 21, 1991 the association began operating under the trade name of Badminton Alberta. Badminton Alberta is the non-profit sport governing body for badminton in Alberta. The association maintains an accurate database consisting of over 7,000 registered members and 350 affiliated clubs and schools. The association operates a number of programs for players, coaches and officials, including the hosting of six provincial championships.
