Le SCOPE est une organisation non gouvernementale internationale à but non lucratif fondée en 1969. Ses objectifs sont les suivants; faire avancer les connaissances sur l'influence des humains sur leur santé et leur bien-être, en mettant l'accent sur les influences et les effets qui sont soit mondiaux soit partagés par plusieurs nations; agir en qualité de conseil international, multidisciplinaire et non gouvernemental d'hommes de science et être conseiller pour ce qui a trait aux problèmes de l'environnement auprès de gouvernements, d'organismes intergouvernementaux et d'organismes non gouvernementaux.
