Periodic sludge lancing enhances steam generator life by mitigating corrosion between its tubes and tube sheet. The present modular sludge lancing equipment has been designed to dislodge and remove sludge from the secondary side of tube sheet of mushroom type steam generators of PHWRs [pressurized heavy water reactors].

Les principales dégradations des tubes de GV [générateurs de vapeur] observées côté secondaire apparaissent dans les zones à fortes contraintes (transition de dudgeonnage) et/ou à faible circulation avec concentration accrue en polluants (interstices tubes-plaques entretoises, zones de boues) [.] […] on adopte un conditionnement chimique et des choix de matériaux du circuit eau-vapeur capables de minimiser la quantité d’oxydes générés et de boues déposées dans les GV. En outre, on procède à des lançages (nettoyage hydraulique avec de l’eau à haute pression) des boues de façon régulière (en général à chaque arrêt pour rechargement).
