A national historic site managed by Parks Canada.

Named after the "Battle of the Restigouche," a battle identified by the name of a river, the "Restigouche River" or "the Restigouche" (flowing also in New Brunswick), a name of pan-Canadian significance.

On January 12, 2001, the words "of Canada" were added to the names of national parks, national park reserves and national historic sites. The addition should be systematically used on cover pages, in titles, headings and at the beginning of documents. In the body of a text, it is appropriate stylistically to omit the words "of Canada."
