The Family Life Improvement Program (FLIP) was initiated in 1977 by Native Counselling Services of Alberta. The program originally focused on providing developmental opportunity for Aboriginal families in the Edmonton area, and has since expanded to include numerous additional locations across the province. The core program remains the Edmonton location FLIP, where program development, direction and change evolves from. With its strong family orientation, FLIP is designed to intervene on family problems through emphasis on family interaction, problem solving and the prevention of chronic family disruption. The program is specifically directed towards personal growth and development in three key areas ~ Me, Me and My Family, and Me and My Community.
