Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Research Equipment
  • Medical and Surgical Equipment
  • Microbiology and Parasitology
  • Blood
OBS

It is a Petri dish containing an agar medium mixed with blood, typically sheep or horse at a concentration of 5 to 10%, used to isolate microorganisms that have complex nutritional requirements and to detect hemolytic activity.

OBS

It is used for example to isolate Streptococcus haemolyticus.

OBS

It should be noted that, initially, agar “plates” were, indeed, sterilized flat glass plates, not Petrie dishes as we know today.

Domaine(s)
  • Matériel et équipement (Recherche scientifique)
  • Équipement médico-chirurgical
  • Microbiologie et parasitologie
  • Sang
CONT
