En régulation continue, la fonction dérivée du contrôle PID (proportionnel, intégrale, dérivée) s'oppose à la variation soudaine du rapport air-gaz. Cet équivalent est correct s'il s'agit de la mise à feu d'un brûleur. Par contre, s'il s'agit de la modulation de l'allure de chauffe, dans un système multichaudières, l'équivalent est régulation avec action dérivée sur l'allure de chauffe.
