Spectromètre embarqué sur le satellite Nimbus 7 lancé en 1979, qui enregistre les quantités moyennes d'ozone total afin d'établir une carte mondiale de la répartition de ces quantités.

OBS

Dans certains périodiques français, on décode parfois erronément le sigle TOMS par l'expression Total Ozone Mapping System. Cette mauvaise interprétation du S final du sigle est probablement à l'origine de l'expression française Système TOMS qui a été attestée à quelques reprises.
