Au sujet des essais de fatigue, le premier vol simulé a eu lieu en novembre 1979, et depuis, plus de 17 000 vols ont été accomplis - soit l'équivalent de 14 500 heures de vol, l'objectif étant d'arriver à 30 000 heures d'ici à novembre 1981, ce qui représentera à peu près la moitié de la durée de vie de l'appareil.
