Lead climbing on rock faces more than 25 m high. 1. The lead climber, belayed by the follower, climbs and installs the protections required to avoid a fall to the ground. 2. The lead climber installs clips, belays himself, and takes up the slack in the rope as the follower ascends. 3. The follower, belayed from above by the lead climber, collects the clips and protections as he climbs.
