... in golf the handicap is a number of strokes the weaker player may subtract from his score. A golfer's handicap is based on the number of strokes he regularly plays over the course handicap rating (not the course par) and is computed as 85 percent of the average difference between the rating and the player's 10 lowest rounds in the last 20 rounds.

OBS

In match play one or more strokes may be deducted at every hole or at alternate or designated holes. In stroke play, the handicap may be deducted at the end of the round or at individual holes listed on the scorecard in the order in which handicap strokes are to be used.

OBS

Only amateurs can have handicaps, not professionals.

Le handicap va de 0 à 36 chez les hommes et de 0 à 40 chez les femmes. En Amérique du Nord, les parcours n'étant pas uniformes, le handicap d'un golfeur varie d'un terrain à l'autre. Dans une partie par trous, on ajoute ou on retranche un nombre déterminé de coups à chaque trou. Dans une partie par coups, on retranche le handicap de chaque golfeur de sa marque finale ou à chaque trou, selon les données inscrites sur la carte de pointage.

OBS

Seuls les amateurs peuvent avoir un handicap, pas les professionnels.
