The Language Rights Support Program objectives are : to promote awareness of language rights through public education; to offer access to alternative dispute resolution processes to settle disputes out of court; to support litigation that helps to advance and clarify constitutional language rights when test cases are involved and dispute resolution efforts have not resolved matters. On September 9, 2009, the Minister of Canadian Heritage announced the choice of the University of Ottawa as the Program's managing institution. The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI), in partnership with the Faculty of Law, is currently working on operationalizing the Program.

Les objectifs du Programme d'appui aux droits linguistiques sont de : promouvoir la connaissance des droits linguistiques par l'éducation publique; donner accès à un processus de modes alternatifs de résolution de conflits afin de résoudre les conflits hors cour; appuyer les recours judiciaires qui permettent l'avancement et la clarification des droits lorsqu'il s'agira de causes types et que les recours à un processus de résolution de conflits auront échoué. En septembre 2009, le Ministre du Patrimoine canadien a annoncé le choix de l'Université d'Ottawa comme gestionnaire du Programme. L'Institut des langues officielles et du bilinguisme (ILOB), en partenariat avec la Faculté de droit, travaille présentement à la mise en œuvre du PADL.
