According to the rule against retrospective operation of a statute, an amending provision cannot affect past transactions.

Suivant le principe de la non-rétroactivité de la loi, une disposition modificatrice ne saurait avoir d’incidence sur les actes ou les faits accomplis dans le passé / survenus avant l’entrée en vigueur de cette disposition.

Obs. : Ne pas confondre ce faux ami avec son sosie français transaction qui, en droit, signifie, dans la plupart des cas, « règlement à l’amiable ».
