To write plainly and concisely, opt for while instead of the roundabout phrases during such time (as) and during the time that.

  • Wordy: During such time as the manager is in the hospital, the restaurant will not be open on weekends.
  • Concise: While the manager is in the hospital, the restaurant will not be open on weekends.
  • Wordy: Ronald travelled the province extensively during the time that he lived there.
  • Concise: Ronald travelled the province extensively while he lived there.
