Although financial and fiscal are to some extent synonymous, financial has a broader meaning and refers to money matters in general.
- The company’s financial outlook showed some improvement.
Fiscal usually applies to government financial matters.
- The government has implemented a program of fiscal restraint.
A fiscal year is an organization’s accounting year, and may or may not coincide with the calendar year.
- Our company’s 2016-2017 fiscal year runs from September 1, 2016, to August 31, 2017.
