upper case, upper-case, uppercase

Capital letters are referred to as upper case.

  • Titles of books should be left in upper case.

As a verb, upper-case is hyphenated.

  • The company style guide recommends that we upper-case titles used before a name.

In computer-related texts, uppercase is often spelled as one solid word.

  • In computer programming, commands are written in UPPERCASE, like this.
