universal product code, UPC
A universal product code or UPC appears on the labels of many consumer products. UPC is written without periods, and the plural is UPCs.
- The inventory clerk used a hand-held computer to search for the universal product code.
- All magazines have UPCs that can be scanned at the cash register.
